Gerhard Richter Archive Exhibition

Invitation card from the Gerhard Richter Archive

Today, I’ve received an invitation from the Gerhard Richter Archive in Dresden, where I worked before I came to Canada. Thanks! They have a new exhibition called “Gerhard Richter. Editionen, Entwürfe, Briefe, Materialien” on view, which focuses on Richter’s graphic work. The exhibition title translates like “Gerhard Richter. Editions, Designs, Letters, Materials”.

The very unique invitation depicts a letter from Gerhard Richter to his gallerist August Haseke from February 3rd, 1969. In it, the famous German painter gives instructions regarding the printing process, including specifications not only on design, but also on paper and ink.

Since the 1960s, German painter Gerhard Richter has created an extensive and versatile graphic oeuvre in addition to his painterly work. These prints, photographic editions, artist's books, artist's posters and multiples have been an integral part of his artistic work. The exhibition in Dresden shows his editions from 1968 to 2019.

Thanks so much for inviting me - I just wish I could go!
